I grew up in Bannack, my parents bought a home there in 1964. It was taken by the state in 1978 but we had a year to move out. It was a great place to spend the summer vacation and my father hunted the mountains around Bannack every winter. There were many residents until the late 70's when the state used imminent domain to buy back all private homesteads. Bannack still lives in my heart, my family visits every year sometimes several times a year. I just returned from a trip with my mother who is 89, we spent a lovely hour with John the ranger in our home sharing old memories. Calling Bannack our home was such a joy! It will forever live in our hearts.
