Farmers and ranchers can't afford outbuildings for every cow, piece of machinery, etc. We get taxed on every building on the place (even if you already paid taxes when purchased), machinery, etc yearly. Unfortunately most can't afford insurance either on livestock as it doesn't cover everything that could happen (disease, acts of God, etc). Even the USDA programs doesn't cover the loss of 1 head of livestock. You have to loose 2 to get a payment for 1 so farmers/ranchers constantly loose.
